Awards Ceremony & Gala

The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation (PHSF) is pleased to welcome the 2018 Paradigm Award honoree, Reince Priebus.

The Paradigm Award annually honors a distinguished Greek-American whose career achievements and personal accomplishments reflect the Foundation’s mission and vision of building a better America through Education and Hellenism. Honored not only for the professional success they have achieved; Paradigm Award recipients are recognized for upholding the values and ideals of their Hellenic heritage—serving as inspirational figures the scholarship recipients.

Reince Priebus embodies the virtues of the Paradigm Award through his early civic engagement and professional career. He volunteered for his first campaign while still in high school, graduated with honors from college and law school, and interned for the NAACP Legal Defense fund in Los Angeles. In 2007, he became the youngest person to serve as Chairman of the Wisconsin Republican National Committee, propelling him to win the Chairmanship of the RNC in 2011. Most recently, Mr. Priebus served as White House Chief of Staff, managing White House staff and collaborating with Members of Congress and other key policymakers. He currently serves as President and Chief Strategist of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.

This year’s co-MCs are PHSF alumni. Trish Christakes, the first female Sports Anchor and Director for WHOI, the ABC affiliate in Peoria, IL, is originally from Chicago’s suburbs. She was inaugural recipient of a Hellenic Birthright grant in 2012. This facilitated her first-ever to visit to Greece. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Trish holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism and English. During her college years, she worked for ESPNU, Fox Sports, and Big Ten Network.

Pete Zervakis, a Chicago native, is a 2008 recipient of a PHSF award. He is a news reporter at WTMJ-TV, the NBC affiliate station in Milwaukee, WI. A 2011 grad of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Pete graduated with highest Bronze Tablet honors. Before landing in Milwaukee in 2016, he was a reporter and anchor in La Crosse and Madison, WI. His work has been recognized by the Wisconsin State Bar Association, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, and the Milwaukee Press Club. Pete is an active member at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, and serves on the parish council.

Alumni Weekend

In continuous support of PHSF alumni, for the second year in a row, the Foundation will host a full Alumni Weekend. Bringing together past and present PHSF scholarship recipients, events on June 15 & 16 include a private alumni reception, a mentorship luncheon sponsored by The Hellenic Initiative, a VIP reception with Reince Priebus, and a special After Party.  Alumni receive a special discounted rate for the gala and have received the special discount code via email.

Additionally, PHSF’s Junior Board invites all alumni to take part in the #AlumniChallenge. All donations will go toward one $10,000 scholarship awarded to an exceptional GreekAmerican student with financial need. Many alumni have already taken part. More info is available here.

Sponsorships are available

Many event sponsorships are available for the community to take part, including corporate and individual  opportunities. Different levels offer different benefits, but each dollar helps support the Foundation and its important work. Another way to support PHSF is by purchasing raffle tickets. At 5 for $100 or $25 each, it’s an easy way to support Greek-American students. Grand prize is $10,000.
